README for PhotoManager!

In case you're wondering what this is, it is a hybrid access-excel solution to the common problem a STOCK photographer faces with cataloging and keeping track of your photos. It is not meant to compete with full-scale programs, it really is more for the technically-oriented user. You can customize it, especially if you're familiar with access. And you can use it not only to keep track of your photos, but to keep track of sales, enlargements (if you do enlargements yourself), export your caption info into the IPTC fields of the images, and more!

The system relies on an access database that is linked to an excel worksheet. To use it, make sure you have Access 2002 (or later) and MS Excel installed. Before running the system for the first time, do the following:

1. Open the database ("PhotoManager.mdb")
2. In the tools menu, under "Database Utilities", click "Linked Table Manager"
3. Check "Select All" and then "OK"
4. Browse to where you have the extracted the database and associated files, and select the file "Photos.xls." Click OK.
5. A dialog box saying "All selected linked tables were successfully refreshed." should be displayed.
6. Click "OK" and then "Close" out of the linked table manager.

Now you're set! After opening the database make sure to read the "Documentation"! A sample image has been included, with corresponding caption info etc.
